Velocity

The velocity of an object is a quantity that gives the speed of an object as well as its direction of motion. Velocity has magnitude as well as direction. It is a vector quantity. Is the speed or the direction of the motion of an object is changed, its velocity changes. The velocity ‘5 km/hr,North’ is different from the velocity ‘7km/hr, North’.

Velocity of an object is the displacement of the object in a short time interval divided by the time interval. Or we can say that, velocity of an object is its displacement per unit time. Velocity can be positive, zero or negative.

Its SI unit is m/sec or metre/ second.

large Velocity ;(v) = frac{Displacement (d)}{ Time (t) }
